Visit of H E Maithripala Sirisena President of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation was a very historic and successful in political, economic and cultural spheres. H E President of Sri Lanka met with H E the president of the Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Putin on 23rd at 2 pm at the office of Hon. Putin, Kremlin Palace. The meetings were attended by significant political and officials of both countries.
From the Russian side the meeting was attend by His Excellency Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs , Mr. Dmitry Peskov, Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation and Press Secretary to the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Yury Ushakov , Aide to the President of the Russian Federation for Foreign Policy Matters, His Excellency Alexandre Karchava , Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Denis Valentinovich, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation ,His Excellency Maxim Oreshkin, Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ilya Shestakov , Deputy Minister of Agriculture Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, Russian Co-Chair of Sri Lanka-Russia Intergovernmental Commission for Trade, Economic, Science and Technology Cooperation, Mr. Dmitry Shugaev , Director, Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation, Mr. Danila Ganich , Deputy Director, Second Department of Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs .
The Sri Lanka side represented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera Minister of Foreign Affairs, . Hon. John Amarathunga, Minister of Tourism Development & Christian Religious Affairs , Hon. Susil Premajayath, Minister of Science, Technology and Research, Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe , Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, Hon. S.B. Navinne, Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and cultural Affairs, Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Ministry of Sports, Hon. Arundika Fernando, Deputy Minister of Tourism Development.
The meeting between H E Maithripala Sirisena President of Sri Lanka and H E Dmitry Medvedev Chairmen of the Government (Prime Minister) of the Russian Federation was held on Friday , 24 March 2017 (11:00 a.m.), at the Reception House of the Government of Russian Federation.
The Russian side was represented by His Excellency Alexandre Alexeevich Karchava ,Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the DSR of Sri Lanka , Mr. Ilya Shestakov , Deputy Minister of Agriculture , Mr. Igor Morgulov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , Mr. Elmir Tagirov ,Director, International Cooperation Department, Mr. Danila Victorovich Deputy Director, Second Department of Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Sri Lankan side was represented by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera Minister of Foreign Affairs, . Hon. John Amarathunga, Minister of Tourism Development & Christian Religious Affairs, Hon. Parallel to the visit of H E the President Mithripala Sirisena to the Russian Federation the two countries signed four important bilateral agreements with respective Ministries. The areas covered in the agreements were Tourism, Culture, Science and Technology and Fisheries. The all the agreements were signed by the parties on 24th Friday m in respective Ministries of the Russian Federation.
The Agreement between the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the field of Fisheries was signed at the Federal Agency for Fisheries of the Russian Federation by H E Dr. Saman Weerasinghe on behalf of the Sri Lanka side, and by Ilya Shestakov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture from the Russian Side.
Hon John Amarathunga , Minister of Tourism and Christian Religious Affairs signed the Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of Tourism between the Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation while Hon S B Navinne signed the Protocol on Cooperation between the Ministry for Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the years 2017-2018. The both were signed by Hon Ms Alla Manilova, Deputy Minister of Culture at the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the Russian side.
Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Research of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation was signed by Hon. Susil Premajayanth Minster of Science Technology and Research and Hon. Ms. Olga Vasilyeva, Minister of Education and Science at Ministry Education and Science.
