On March 29, the Honourable Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Sri Lanka, visited the Russian State Space Corporation (ROSCOSMOS) along with H. E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Prof. Kemal Ismail Deen, Chairman of the Board of Governors, Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies (ACCIMT) and Dr. P. Sanath Panawennage, Director General & CEO, ACCIMT. The Sri Lankan delegation met with Eng. Sergey V. Saveliev, Deputy Head of ROSCOSMOS in charge of International Cooperation, and Eng. Denis V. Lyskov, Director General, JSC GLAVCOSMOS to discuss the advancement of Sri Lanka-Russia technical cooperation in the sphere of GLONASS geo-mapping technology for the needs of Sri Lanka’s domestic economy development, as well as the potential for the application of Russian remote sensing and launch services in Sri Lanka.
To further the development of the specific fields of bilateral interaction, the Memorandum of Understanding between Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies and ROSCOSMOS on Cooperation in the field of exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes was signed by the Parties in the presence of the Honourable Minister and H. E. the Ambassador.
