At the invitation of H.E. Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of Ruwanwelisaya Maha Viharaya, Ven. Dr. Pallekande Rathanasara Thero, Chief Incumbent of Amarasekararamaya, Kelaniya, Sri Jinaramaya, Midalana and Saripuththaramaya, Narahenpita, Randiligama Mahinda Thero, Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya and Kahalle Gnaninda Thero, Viharadhikaree, Thuparamaya Temple are visiting the Russian Federation on November 20-28, 2017. During their stay in Russia the venerable theros are visiting Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The main occasion of the visit was a Dhamma Sermon held at the Official Residence of H.E. the Ambassador on the 22nd of November. Amongst the more than 100 participants were the Embassy staff and members of their families, Sri Lankan students in Moscow, Kursk and Tver and members of the Sri Lankan business community in Russia. While Venerable Randiligama Anuruddha Thero delivered the Dhamma Sermon, Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero and Ven. Dr. Pallekande Rathanasara Thero delivered the Anusasana.
On this occasion, cash gifts and certificates were distributed to the winners and participants of the Vesak Lantern Competition organized by the Embassy for the second time in May 2017 for the Sri Lankan students in Moscow by the Venerable Theros and H.E. the Ambassador.
